Leon Lurje Trophy Will Not Be Held in 2026 – Planning Begins for the 20th Anniversary in 2027
After careful consideration, a decision has been made not to hold the Leon Lurje Trophy in 2026. The reason is that the facilities required to organize the competition are not available in a way that ensures optimal conditions for participants, spectators, and organizers.
The Leon Lurje Trophy is a competition with a strong tradition and great symbolic value for Swedish and international synchronized skating. Since its inception in 2007, the event has grown into one of the most appreciated in the discipline and carries the legacy of Leon Lurje – the doctor, leader, and passionate advocate who dedicated his life to developing the sport.
- Leon Lurje Trophy stands for joy, community, and high quality. To safeguard the competition’s high standards and the legacy Leon Lurje left behind, we have chosen to take a step back this year – so that we can take two steps forward for the next major event. By starting the planning for the 20th anniversary in 2027 already now, we are laying the foundation for a truly strong event that honors his memory in the best possible way, says Camilla Fredman, Competition Manager Swedish Figure Skating Association.
Planning for the 20th anniversary in 2027 is already underway, when teams from around the world will once again be welcomed to Gothenburg to celebrate Leon Lurje’s legacy and the development of synchronized skating.
